A warm roof for around half the cost of a tiled one

A lightweight tiled roof needs a new roof structure, scaffold, plasterers and up to a week of trades in your home. Our panels sit in the frame you already own, usually in a single day, and still cut most of the heat loss.

Our fitting day, start to finish

A 4 m by 3.5 m Edwardian, 16 mm polycarbonate out, 75 mm Eco Tech panels and a roof light in.

  1. Your room is covered

Two of our fitters arrive, lay dust sheets over floor and furniture, then put up a work platform in the garden. Scaffold is rarely needed on a single storey.

  2. The old sheets come off

Polycarbonate and bar caps are lifted and loaded for recycling. We inspect and clean every bar before anything new goes on.

  3. New panels go in

Each panel, cut to your survey measurements, is laid onto the bars and sealed, with caps clipped over. The roof light goes into its bay.

  4. Sealed, swept, done

Trims, flashing and gutters finished, the room vacuumed and the sheets lifted. You can switch the heating on tonight.

I highly recommend this company, after my conservatory roof suffered hail damage I contacted a few companies for quotes. Eco Tech were very efficient and helpful. After receiving a quote from them and many other companies, I decided to have them do the job to replace the existing polycarbonate panels with insulated panels. As I write this review, whilst sitting in my cooler conservatory, I am thrilled to say I can already feel the difference, before I could not sit in the conservatory this time of day (13:30) due to the heat, the insulated roof has been completed, the 2 polite gentleman Kelly and Alfie made short work of removing the damaged panels and installing the new insulated panels with ease despite the 27 degree weather, they both cleaned and tidied up after themselves AND the bonus was they removed the damaged panels without charge. I have no hesitation in recommending this company.

We are absolutely delighted with the new windows and roof fitted by the Eco Tech team. We had a very old, large conservatory which was freezing in the winter and too hot in the warmer weather. The difference in temperature since the refurbishment has been dramatic and transformed it into a usable room again. All the teams worked extremely hard to get the job done in the fastest time possible and were very prompt and thorough in addressing a couple of minor issues we had on completion. We would highly recommend the team and the roof product to anyone.

We have just had our conservatory roof panels replaced. Eco Tech quoted for the installation and were competitive, the salesman called to see us the day after making initial contact and once we had agreed to the work we had the survey the day. The work was carried out four weeks later by a great team led by Richard and they worked flat out to get the job done to our satisfaction within a timely manner. The guys were hard working polite and friendly they cleared up and the end of the day and even tidied up next door neighbours garden as it was windy and some material had blown into their garden Great job well done thanks Eco Tech.

From start to finish, the experience was excellent. The company provided a quote based on measurements and pictures, and after a quick site visit, the entire process was completed in just a few weeks. I'm incredibly happy with the result, it's made a noticeable difference straight away. Highly recommend this as a more affordable alternative for anyone considering a new conservatory roof.

The rooms our customers got back

Photos taken inside after we fitted the panels. The frames and walls stayed put. Everything about sitting in there changed.

Warm through winterRoughly 80 percent less heat slipping out through the roof than 16 mm polycarbonate, so the radiator can keep up.
Cool through summerThe sun no longer beats straight down on you. Side windows keep the room bright.
Calm in a stormThe insulated core absorbs the sound of rain. You can hold a conversation in a downpour.
Dry and glare freeThe ceiling stays warm enough to stop condensation, and the TV is watchable at midday.

The roofs we are usually called out to

Algae, split sheets, misted glass and sagging bars. Recognise one of these? We can fix it.

What people ask us first

More answers on our questions page.

How much cheaper are insulated panels than a tiled conservatory roof?

Roughly half. On a medium Edwardian our panel roof comes to about £4,200 to £4,950, while a lightweight tiled roof on the same room runs to £10,050 to £14,750, mainly because panels keep your frame and go on in a day or two. Compare the two roofs.

What does Eco Tech charge to replace a conservatory roof with panels?

Small roofs up to 12 m² start at about £3,000, medium roofs of 12 to 25 m² at about £4,000, and large or P-shaped roofs at about £5,000. Most of our customers pay somewhere between £3,000 and £7,500. Our price guide shows every style and size.

Will my conservatory need a new frame?

Almost never. Our panels are light, so they replace the polycarbonate or glass inside the uPVC or aluminium frame you already have. We check the bars, the ridge and the dwarf walls at survey before we order anything.

Is it really done in a day?

Most lean-tos, Edwardians and Victorians are, yes. Larger roofs and P-shapes take two to three days. You can stay at home while we work and the room is back in use that evening.

Will I need planning permission?

Very rarely, because the conservatory keeps the same footprint and height. Listed homes, conservation areas and homes with permitted development rights removed should check with the council first. Our planning guide goes through it.

Is the room darker with a solid roof?

It removes the glare, and some light goes with it. Many customers choose a glazed roof light or two to see the sky, and daylight still pours in through the side windows. LED spotlights in the new ceiling cover the evenings.

Will rain still be loud?

No. Rain on thin polycarbonate drums because the sheet is hollow and hard. The 75 mm foam core in our panels deadens it, so a downpour sounds like a gentle patter.

What warranty comes with an Eco Tech roof?

Every roof carries a 10 year insurance backed warranty through HomePro, so your cover carries on even if a business stops trading. We are also FENSA registered.

Can I spread the cost?

Yes. We offer finance through Kanda, subject to status, so you can pay for the roof over time instead of in one go. Ask the surveyor for the options on the day.
